5 Most Romantic Places to Live

Paris, France

If you are a philosophical romantic type, Paris is an ideal destination for you. Be it a lazy picnic in the Luxembourg Gardens, meditating stroll along the banks of the Seine, and afternoons lost among the cobblestones of the Latin Quarter…these are among the most romantic pastimes this world has to offer.

Paris is magical, and you experience romance is whatever you do in this city. Once in the city, you should be spending your time looking at the intricate detailing on every structure lining the boulevards, the saucy Moulin Rouge shows, and an atmospheric dinner on Eiffel Tower.

Istria, Croatia

If sailing in Yachts is your way of romance, Istria is an ideal place for you. The cobalt blue of the Adriatic Sea on Istria’s cost belongs to a different world. The coast is dotted with flotillas of white yachts. The city looks like frozen in history with a beautiful fortresses and bell towers creating a picture perfect city. Later, this region was ruled by the Venetians, who also left an architectural legacy.  The spell bounding beauty of Istria, made the romans name it as Tierra Magica.

The country side looks like a carefully crafted with olive groves, cherries, figs, and walnuts. High in the hills, behind more medieval walls, are yet more toy-town settlements of fountains, chestnut trees, and frescoed churches. Frankly, I defy you not to fall in love with Istria.

Leh, India

If bitter cold does not deter you from having romance, Leh is your dream destination. The average temperature in Leh in summers is 20 degrees, but it sharply falls as you climb to heights.  Leh’s topography is a cocktail of muddy houses, snow capped mountains and blue lakes. What takes you by surprise is the contrasting landscapes in the region – Lake surrounded by Dry mountain on one side and snow capped peaks on the other side.

This is the place where vast boundaries of Pangong Sa lake would merge with the azure sky. The serenity which Leh offers is unmatched and you will fall in love with the mystique nature and simplicity of people. You will be few notches away from divinity!!

If you are the adventurous romantic kinds, Santorini is the perfect date for you. Situated in Greece archipelago, Santorini is the site of one of the largest volcanic eruptions in recorded history. Santorini has one of the most active Volcano zones and has erupted many times, with varying degrees of explosivity.

Santorini’s offers a splendid view of coloured beaches – black pebble beach & red beach, because of the molten lava. The stunning view cliff perched town (Fira) is enchanting and the whole town looks like crafted in white marble. Santorini is symbolic of Dreams which transcend all limitations and still persist.

Rio De Janeiro, Brazil

If you want to stimulate your romantic passions, Rio is your ideal destination. It is a perfect combination of Latin passion and cool see breeze nights. Rio offers tons of spots for the lovers – Copacabana to Tijuca National Park, Maracana Football Stadium, the Cinematheque nightclub. The carnival city offers you loads of fun from Samba dance to steamy nights and eclectic music.

Rio is one place where the entire population of the city is in a perpetual romance with life and dance, music and fun are way of life.

A Trip to Tsango Lake

As the Roads crawled Teesta, flanked by hills,

We climbed up the valley, to stay with the clouds still.

As the peaks of snow suddenly appears,

The fate of the road, the turn, makes it disappear.

But My eyes still gazed for the beauty divine,

Their touch, their ego, so feminine.

At the hut we stop, to salute the tricolor,

And the echoes of the Anthem are in the valleys fervor,

I dough the snow, on my mates to throw,

As we continue to plough, to let the game grow.

The van we ride, skim pass the falls,

And we notice Tsango, hidden behind the mountain walls.

The sun is born, at the throw of nature’s dice,

In the harmony it stays, with its rays reflecting the ice.

The surface of lake, with rays shines bright,

I feel the heat, while the cold is at its height!!

We travel down the Silk Road, when dusk is a distance away,

The Snowstorm sweeps our way, as the nature starts its play.

As the roads vanish, we float on the terrain,

And only the expertise of driver, had we to claim.

The wind calmed down a bit, to unravel the mystery,

As we rediscovered the waterfall, frozen in history.

We were in safe hands, from the weather so rough,

When I broke my sleep, to hear the traffic cough!!

Trip to Chail-Sangla-Narkanda

This has been one of the most memorable trip full of adventure and beauty… While I was planning for trip to Himachal I stumbled upon a place called Kalpa in Kinnaur. More I read about it , more interested I got in it. There was a catch though.. road to the journey is quite rough…well I thought of giving it a try….We headed late night from Gurgaon and reached Chail in the morning..People in Chail advised us to stay overnight at Chail and then head for Kinnaur.

Chail had a very pleasant weather and it really felt nice being in quite, calm and pleasant weather away from hot weather in Delhi. To our surprise we were able to find a decent hotel though we had not done any advance booking…

Next day we left for Kinnaur. It took as 8 hrs to reach Jeory from Narkanda-Rampur. Although we were travelling on NH22 the road was really bad at couple of places..From Jeory we had to take a decision to either go to Sarahan ( 1 hr) or Kalpa (4-5 hrs). People had adviced us to go to Sarahan which is similar to Kalpa and is called as gateway to Kinnaur.

We reached Sarahan at 2 PM but I quite did’nt like the place.. I was expecting something more for the 8 hr drive we had taken from Chail….We decided to go down and head for Kalpa..

As we headed for Kinnaur.. real adventure started.. Road was very narrow.. almost cutout from rocks… one could see deep valley on one side and rocky mountain on another side.. Unlike Chail …Kinnaur is not green… Has couple of orchards on its way but not as green as thick pine forest of Chail..From Wangtoo things started getting crazier… Absolutely no road, Sutlej on one side and along side Hydel power projects by JP Group… JP Group is in process of widening the road…The road is prone to landslides..All the way from Wangtoo to Karzam…we were thinking.. what shall we do… Taxi driver was looking at us ..as to what are we doing? where are we making him drive upto..?…From Karzam…Sangla is 16 km and Kalpa is 30 km.. It was getting dark and we had to decide between the two?…We choose.. Kalpa… Way from Karzam to Kalpa is really really really dangerous… 7 km on our way to Kalpa.. we saw a landslide.. Our taxi driver insisted that he cannot cross it as the car will get stuck…I insisted.. let us try… we tried.. and car almost got stuck..we decided to turn back…no knowing what to do… it was too late.. and we could not go back to Sarahan….we thought of giving Sangla a try?… Luckily… we were able to reach Sangla although road from Karzam to Sangla is also very dangerous…

As we reached Sangla.. we were greated by breathtaking view of Kinner Kailash…It was really amazing.. Our hard work had paid.. there aren’t many good options to stay in Sangla.. but it is fine… I wanted to go to last village of India ( Chitkul) but Nikki was already terrified with where I have taken her.. and did not want to go…

We headed next day from Sangla for Chail… On our way.. we found a very good camp with tents and log huts in Narkanda and decided to stay there.. This was again a very different and unique experience..We stayed here for one night and headed back to Gurgaon the next day:)
